About this Report

This report covers performance for five years ending December 31, 2007, unless otherwise noted.

We publish a sustainability report every two years. This is our third report.

Performance data for the companies we acquired in 2006 or 2007 is provided for the year after acquisition and subsequent years. Therefore, data for acquired Royster Clark, Nu-Gro and Pursell Technologies Inc. facilities are provided for 2007 only.

All financial data is reported in US dollars, and product and environmental data are presented in metric units. Please refer to our 2007 Annual Report for more details on our financial performance.

Agrium became a participant in the United Nations Global Compact in late April 2008, during completion of this report. In our next report we will demonstrate how we are implementing the Global Compact's ten principles in human rights, labor, the environment and anticorruption.

We have used the Global Reporting Initiative's (GRI) Sustainability Reporting Guidelines and stakeholder input to establish the content of this report. We also interviewed 11 senior Agrium executives for their insights and input to the report. To gain external feedback on the report we shared a draft with our Community Advisory Panels in Fort Saskatchewan and Redwater, Alberta and with The Fertilizer Institute (TFI), the Canadian Fertilizer Institute (CFI), and the International Fertilizer Industry Association (IFA).
