2004 & 2005 Awards & Recognition

Corporate

For the first time in company history, Agrium has been named to the 2006 list of Canada’s Top 100 Employers.  The annual competition profiles companies and organizations that are leaders in their fields in attracting and retaining high quality employees.

Agrium was recognized in 2005 by Corporate Knights as one of the Best 50 Corporate Citizens in Canada based on environment, international stakeholder relation and human rights, product safety and business practices, community relations, and employee relations.

Governance

Agrium received GMI’s top rating of 10 out of 10 for governance and social responsibility in 2005. Agrium was one of only 33 companies in the world, and one of seven in Canada.

Safety

In 2006, BNSF Railway Company (BNSF) honored Agrium and 58 other shippers with BNSF’s Annual Product Stewardship Award for the safe transportation of hazardous materials by rail in 2005.

Fort Saskatchewan Nitrogen Operations (2005) was the recipient the CN Safe Handling Award

Fort Saskatchewan Nitrogen Operations (2005) received a safety award from Alberta Human Resources and Employment, Workplace Health & Safety for completing one year without a Lost Time Injury to an employee or contractor. Redwater Fertilizer Operations (2005) was the recipient the CN Safe Handling Award

Conda Phosphate Operations Rasmussen Ridge Mine (2005) received the “Sentinels of Safety” award. The “Sentinels of Safety” award recognizes mines that operate without a lots time accident. Since Agrium acquiring Rasmussen Ridge mine, employees have worked 152,482 hours with no lost time injuries.

Fort Saskatchewan Nitrogen Operations and Redwater Fertilizer Operations (2004) received an Award of the Year from Alberta Human Resources and Employment, Workplace Health & Safety for outstanding safety performance in their class. They received recognition for achieving the longest duration without a lost time among the members of the Alberta Petro-Chemical Safety Council.

Fort Saskatchewan Nitrogen Operations (2004) received an Award of the Year in recognition of having achieved the best "Contractor Safety Performance" in Class II among the members of the Alberta Petro-Chemical Safety Council.

Conda Phosphate Operations (2004) was awarded the “Star” Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) award by the US Department of Labour’s, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). It was received to recognize ten years of excellence promoting effective workplace safety and health management.

Conda Phosphate Operations (2004) received a Safe Handling Award with CN, which covers all CN sites (Fort, RW).

Homestead Nitrogen Operations (2004) received the “Peak Performance Award” from the Nebraska Safety Council. Homestead was one of ten companies in Nebraska to receive recognition for their safety performance.

Agrium President’s EH&S Award

Fort Saskatchewan Nitrogen Operations (2006) was the recipient of the Presidents EH&S Award – wholesale manufacturing.

Standard, Alberta (2006) was the recipient of the Presidents EH&S Award – distribution terminal.

Western Farm Service, Coastal Division (2006) was the recipient of the Presidents EH&S Award – retail.

Wisconsin Division of Crop Production Services (2005) was the recipient of the President’s Award for the EH&S – retail.

Borger Nitrogen Operations (2005) was the recipient of the President’s EH&S Award – wholesale operations.

Watson Distribution Terminal (2004 & 2005) was the recipient of the President’s EH&S award – distribution terminals.

Western Farm Service in Waterville, Washington, West Sacramento Facility and Fresno Terminal (2004) were recipients of the President’s Award for the EH&S – retail.

Environmental

Redwater Phosphate Operations’ (2004) Dustreat Program was the recipient of two awards from GE Betz – Proof Not Promises Award and the Return on Environment Partnership Award.

Redwater Fertilizer Operations (2004) received an inaugural Ecomagination Leadership award at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Centre in Washington, D.C. from GE Infrastructure Water and Process Technologies, a unit of General Electric Company. They were one of twelve companies selected from thousands of GE customers recognized for its outstanding environmental conservation and societal contribution. Redwater Fertilizer Operations worked with GE Betz to increase cooling system efficiency by reducing building of calcium carbonate in heating exchangers. At the award ceremony, Agrium was commended for striking a positive balance between industrial and environmental challenges.

Conda Phosphate Operations Rasmussen Ridge Mine (2004) received a reclamation award for "Excellence in On-Going Operations". The award is sponsored by a multi agency group of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), United States Forest Service (USFS), Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (IDEQ), Idaho Department of Water Resources (IDWR), Idaho Department of Lands (IDL) and Idaho Fish and Game (IG&G).

ESN Smart Nitrogen was chosen as one of the top products featured in 2004 by Farm Industry News (FIN) media, located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The selection was based on reader Internet inquires and votes from the farmer panel.

Community

Joffre Nitrogen Operations (2004 & 2005) was awarded the United Way "Winner of the Industrial Challenge"

Joffre Nitrogen Operation’s employees won the United Way of Central Alberta “Chairman’s Corporate Award”. The award recognizes the top combined corporate and employee contributor per capita from a site having 25 or more employees.

Kapuskasing Phosphate Operations (2005) received the "Business of the Year 2005" award from the Chamber of Commerce. Among the reasons that this award was presented to Agrium included company involvement in the community, local job creator, bringing a new core industry to the region, contributions to a variety of groups and generally making a priority of being part of the fabric of the community.

Vanscoy Potash Operations (2005) was awarded with the CJ Kirkpatrick – Outstanding Leadership award, the Quantum Leap Award for significant growth in employee campaign and the Corporate Superstar for donations $25,000 or greater from the United Way.

Vanscoy Potash Operations (2004) received the Partnership Award from the Saskatoon and District Labour Council for an outstanding Union-Management United Way Workplace campaign.

Borger Nitrogen Operations (2004 & 2005) received the United Way "Community Pacesetter" award

Kenai Nitrogen Operations (2004) was recognized as the Outstanding Business on the Kenai Peninsula.

Employees

Dan Schulz, Agrium Sales Representative, won the Michigan Farm Bureau 2005 Young Farmer Discussion Meet. The annual MFB Discussion Meet challenges young farmers, ages 18 to 35 years, to discuss current agricultural issues.

The Canadian Fertilizer Institute presented Doug Beever, Corporate Relations Director, with an Award of Merit for his ongoing leadership and participation on issues such as government relations and nutrients in the environment.

Pete Thiry, Branch Manager with Western Farm Service in Coulee City, Washington was recognized in 2004 as the Citizen of the Year in his community for his volunteer efforts.
