POPCORN® Sulfur

Sulfur is essential to every crop for proper growth and protein development. Sulfur is especially important where soils are often alkaline and sulfur-deficient. Surface area, not particle size, plays the most critical role in the oxidation or conversion rate of sulfur. POPCORN Sulfur converts rapidly in soil as the result of its sponge-like shape and expanded structure. By contrast, ordinary elemental sulfur must be ground to a fine powder to attain a comparable surface area and soil conversion rate.

NOxOUT

The NOxOUT process is a urea-based Selective Non-Catalytic Reduction (SNCR) process.  It provides cost-effective NOx reduction for fossil and waste-fueled stationary combustion sources.

Benefits

  • Wide Applicability of Use
The NOxOUT products are formulated to function at either furnace temperatures or  lower temperature zones.  The NOxOUT process is also well suited to process combustion units such as cement kilns, glass furnaces, ethylene furnaces, calciners, and coke ovens.

  • Low Energy Consumption and Ease of Use
The NOxOUT process features low energy consumption, typically 20-40 kW.  The product does not require special handling since it is non-hazardous under SARA, Title III regulations.

  • Control of Ammonia Slip and Scaling
Problems of secondary emission of ammonia slip as a by-product can be reduced or prevented with the use of NOxOUT reagents.  The strict manufacturing standards and proprietary ingredients help to prevent scaling of the feed system and thus allow the consistent feed of chemical to assist the control of NOx emissions.

Best Practices

The product is delivered in concentrated form and is diluted with plant water to aid in atomization and distribution in the combustion unit.  NOxOUT is injected with customized feed equipment, designed and supplied by Fuel Tech Inc., at a location where maximum contact with NOx can be made in the appropriate temperature zone.  Contact with copper and copper alloys should be avoided.
