Urea

Grades N-P-K

  • 46-0-0

Urea is the most concentrated dry source of nitrogen. Agrium produces several grades of urea:

  • Agricultural grade
  • SGN 300
  • Lawn grade
  • Prilled feed grade
  • Forestry grade

Industrial Uses

Urea is used in the production of resins and glues. Industrial resins are used in the manufacture of such forestry products as plywood and oriented strandboard.

Urea is used in the production of fiberglass insulation, forestry fertilization and on airport runways as a de-icer.

Urea is used in the control of NOX emissions.

Urea Ammonium Nitrate liquid is used in effluent treatment.

Manufacturing Process -
How we make Urea 46-0-0

Urea is produced through the reaction of ammonia (NH3)and carbon dioxide (CO2). The two are reacted together at high pressure at temperatures between 132° and 182° C  (270° and 360° F).  The urea solution from these reactions is a molten urea with a concentrate of about 80 percent. At this stage, the molten urea solution is further concentrated and then granulated to make dry urea.

Feed grade urea is the result of the urea transformed into small prills for use as an animal-feed supplement

Benefits

  • high analysis reduces handling requirements
  • sized for uniform blending
  • most concentrated form of granular nitrogen
  • safe handling and storage properties
  • application flexibility; broadcast, band or seed place
