Logistics/Traffic Analyst

Reporting to the Customer Service Manager, this role would perform logistical support functions pertaining to the movement of product from plant to customer.  The successful candidate will coordinate truck, rail, and marine transportation and logistics in addition to logistics/traffic analysis work to support the development of short and long term plans to promote operational efficiency and cost containment.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

• Perform daily traffic functions including shipping/customs, carrier scheduling, and tracking/tracing.
• Interface with customers, vendors and internal employees with respect to freight rate verification and service level expectations.
• Develop processes and procedures to support transportation initiatives.
• Develop freight pricing tools to aid Customer Service/Sales in the quotation process.
• Key role in overseeing the procurement and service delivery of truck, rail, marine equipment/services.
• Develop and coordinate plans to supply AAT’s warehouses in the most expedient and economical manner.
• Research and analyze freight costs and classifications, delivery methods, and delivery schedules
• Develop measurable key performance indicators for transportation and logistics.
• Participate in the development of key strategies with internal groups and customers to ensure distribution strategies are being supported and executed.
• Assist with the development of annual logistics budget, analyze results, track performance to plan.
• Assist in the negotiation of transportation contracts with carrier.
• Assist in the development and implementation of Information Technology as it relates to transportation and logistics.

Qualifications of the Position Include:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent transportation and logistics experience.
• 5+ years of related experience with in-depth knowledge of distribution fundamentals.
• Understanding of the economics of pricing, contracts and ability to participate in negotiations is essential.
• Strong analytical, financial and project management skills are a must.
• Proven organizational skills, flexibility and creativity, excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to maintain workflow on multiple ongoing tasks with attention to detail and results orientation.
• Demonstrated credibility and ability to build solid client-focused relationships.
• Highly proficient computer skills, specifically strong Excel skills and the ability to gather market intelligence
• Ability to travel outside of Canada on an occasional basis.
