Agrium Advanced Technologies is currently recruiting for the following position located in Southern Ontario or the U.S. Great Lakes Region.
Reporting to the Manager, Capital Projects, the successful candidate will be the Engineer, Capital Projects for the Capital Projects Group. The Engineer, Capital Projects will perform the specific responsibilities as needed at various facilities located in the U.S. and Canada.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
- Providing expertise in all phases of Project Management, from project scope development and initial engineering, through construction, to commission and start-up, specifically including plant design, machinery and equipment layouts, estimating, resourcing, scheduling, supervision, logistics, construction, and cost and budget control.
- Making independent decisions on work methods and procedures within the project scope, while ensuring successful completion of projects according to clearly defined and agreed-upon objectives.
- Ensuring that project objectives are met in an economical and timely manner, and that applicable standards, procedures and quality control requirements are either developed or met as required.
- Serving as liaison between operations, maintenance, technical groups and outside contractors in both union and non-union environments.
- Extensive travel to various plant sites in the U.S. and Canada.
Qualifications of the Position Include:
- BS-Engineering degree in a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 8-10 years related experience in progressively responsible roles with experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing facility or chemical/fertilizer manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience in all phases of construction management, including general knowledge of all constructions trades and visual inspection capabilities of all project-related activity.
- Capability of making free-hand and isometric drawings, and to read and interpret prepared drawings of various types, including blueprints and architectural, structural, piping and mechanical drawings.
- Strong computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD, and Outlook.
- Proven excellence in communication and analytical skills.
Applicants must have a minimum of 18 months in current position, and a “solid/satisfactory” or above performance rating.
