Reporting to the Mine Engineering Superintendent, the Mine Engineer is responsible for development and stewardship of long and short term mining plans, underground development and rehabilitation plans as well as other special mining related projects.
Specific Responsibilities will include:
- Participating in the short and long term mine planning process (design & scheduling):
- Assisting with designing of short term (week & monthly) and long term (yearly & 20 yr) mine plans as well as stewarded to those plans through a reconciliation process;
- Coordinating with all members of the mine engineering team to ensure that mine plans properly meet mill, mine and ground control requirements;
- Assist the geologist with ground control measurements and analysis as needed;
- Ensure all mine plans are communicated to and coordinated with the Mine Engineering Superintendent;
- Ensure mine plan compliance with all safety and environmental rules and regulations.
- Promote improvements in all areas to meet or exceed set targets
- Assist the Mine Engineering Superintendent with the budgeting process and stewarding to the mine engineering budget (capital & operational);
- Recognize and assist with implementation of continuous improvement opportunities.
- Perform the Mine Engineering Superintendent job duties as needed.
Qualifications of the Position Include:
- A Bachelor degree in Mine Engineering or related degree;
- Have 2-5 years of mining engineering experience, preferably underground potash;
- Able to handle a large and varied workload;
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, planning, problem solving, and organization skills;
- Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision;
- Experience working with MS Office, SAP, CAD, and Mine Planning software such as Vulcan.
