Contractor Coordinator

As part of the Vanscoy Potash Operations Maintenance Team, the Contractor Coordinator will report to the Mill Maintenance Superintendent.   

Specific responsibilities will include:
• Effectively managing VPO contractors for routine and capital work including:
• Coordinating orientation training with the EH&S department;
• Effectively communicating work efforts with other department heads;
• Ensuring compliance with the Agrium policies and procedures;
• Coordinating contractor skill requirements for upcoming jobs;
• Conduct regularly scheduled meetings to update and report progress of key activities;
• Identifying and implementing improvements to the contractor management process;
• Evaluating and decision-making on daily planning, scheduling and contractor activities and efficiencies;
• Oversees contractor planning, scheduling and execution;
• Assists the Turnaround Coordinator to ensure contractors are arranged and scheduled for the turnaround;
• Identifies and tracks necessary means of contractor time collection/payment;
• Monitors schedule to ensure timelines are met;
• Coordinates schedule changes with contractors prior to work start;
• Ensure temporary facilities are set up for contractors as required.

Qualifications of the position include:
• Possess a B.S. degree in engineering, business, or related degree (preferred, but not required);
• Have a minimum of 5+ years related work experience and/or project management;
• Possess good written and verbal communication skills; 
• Have excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Project and Excel.  Skills in SAP a plus;
• Able to work with multiple tasks, prioritize and develop sound time lines; 
• Good personnel management skills;
• Strong interpersonal skills and able to work well in a fast paced “team” environment;
• Be a self-starter, able to work with little direct oversight;
• Possess problem solving, trouble-shooting, and diagnostic skills.
