Safety and Security Coordinator

Reporting to the Manager, Environment Health & Safety, the Safety and Security Coordinator, is responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of comprehensive safety and security programs to safeguard worker well being and comply with applicable government regulations. 

Specific Responsibilities Will Include:

• Supervision of two Safety Equipment Technicians and Contract Security Staff.
• Provide support and direction for the Environment Health & Safety Management System Element Owners and Caretakers. 
• Maintain and improve Safety and Loss Prevention reporting and follow-up systems.
• Support Agrium Wholesale with participation in audits, safety council and other initiatives.
• Investigate and identify root cause of incidents, preventing recurrences by recommending improvement to systems / procedures / equipment. 
• Keep informed and up to date on Federal and Provincial Occupational Health & Safety legislation, ensuring the Company’s policies and practices are in alignment. 
• Provide strategic direction to Department Loss Prevention Coordinators.

Qualifications of the Position Include:

• High School Diploma.
• 5 to 10 years experience in an industrial setting, specifically with safety management systems. 
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to relate with all levels within the company as well as regulators and other industry representatives.
• Self motivated and independent worker.
• Excellent computer skills (i.e. Word, Excel, SAP).
• Having or working towards an Occupational Health and Safety Certificate and or a CRSP designation would be beneficial.
