Product Supervisor, Purchase for Resale

The Product Supervisor will provide support to the Purchase for Resale business unit and will report to the Director, Purchase for Resale in Denver, Colorado.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Preparation of annual supply plan for the PFR business unit and Rainbow Division
  • Develop/manage logistical strategies with Marine, Rail, and Trucks to successfully implement transportation corridors for imported and domestic purchased product.
  • Develops, implements, and manages a supply plan to minimize distribution and product supply costs.
  • Continually manage, and prepare on an on-going basis, the product continuities which link the current purchase/production/supply to the sales forecast.
  • Manage and administer the Terminal/Warehouse Fill Plan.
  • Coordinate communication and decision making between Sales, Accounting, Warehousing, Information Management, Operations, and Transportation with regard to allocations, sourcing, trades, and general product supply and profitability.
  • Work closely with granulation and blend plants to develop purchasing strategy for product needs. Identify / procure most cost effective source of product in order to reach production plan while maintaining maximum profitability. 
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with various vendors and industry contacts.
  • Identify, develop, negotiate, and administer product exchange agreements and purchases, which minimize distribution costs and assure availability of product.  Implement related purchase and trade agreements.
  • Manage and monitor inventories to assure optimization to meet Profit Plan and meet/exceed customer demands.  In close coordination with appropriate Product Manager, allocates fertilizer products to Sales Regions when product supply issues occur. 
  • Maintains data files to insure PFR activities are Sarbanes/Oxley compliant
  • Administration of all PFR contracts.
  • Maintain price lists for PFR sales and Rainbow raw materials.
  • Manage/monitor regional pricing and provide recommendations for Reference Pricing and Price Exception decisions for Rainbow.
  • Resolve and approve product quality issues with Sales, Production, and Suppliers.
  • Manage and provide SAP data on sales, shipments, trades, purchases and inventories.  Coordination and maintenance of material master, extension of products, creation of materials and warehouses within SAP.
  • Assist in the development and testing of IM technology as well as identify and target processes for continuous improvement, as it relates to Marketing in order to ensure that “Agrium is the easiest company to do business with” as well as meeting the corporate “Superordinate Goal”.
  • Performs special studies, upon request, relative to Marketing of current or proposed products or projects.
  • Oversee direct reports in purchase for resale department – responsible for all aspects of personnel supervision including performance reviews, work direction, staffing decisions, and individual staff development.
  • Monitor status of accounts payables for department, ensuring timely and accurate payment to vendors, and oversee problem invoice resolution.
  • Responsible for monitoring and managing department K.P.I.s.

Qualifications of the position include:

  • To meet the requirements of this position, it is recommended that the incumbent have a university degree combined with a minimum of 5 -10 years of experience, the majority of which would be in agricultural sales or marketing. 
  • The incumbent must have strong problem solving skills, and excellent “grasp” of the business, computer skills in SAP, Excel and Microsoft Word, plus strong interpersonal skills to develop effective relationships with all aspects of the business both internal and external.
