Specialist, Procurement

Reporting to the Supervisor, Materials Management, the Specialist, Procurement will provide senior level support to the Redwater and Fort Saskatchewan Technical Services departments in regards to procurements for ongoing site requirements and major projects. This role will also lead various Materials Management efficiency projects for Corporate Materials Management, Redwater Fertilizer Operations, and Fort Saskatchewan Nitrogen Operations.

Specific Responsibilities Will Include:

• Leading the development of Request for Proposal documents and bid evaluation criteria for Technical Services contracts.
• Evaluating proposals, making recommendations and (if required) negotiating the final award of a contract as directed by the evaluation team.
• Preparing all contract documents, coordinating the signing and the final distribution of the awarded contracts.
• Developing strategies for assigned labour contracts by understanding market conditions, union agreements, government requirements, qualified vendors, and site needs.
• Evaluating labour and equipment rate increases and negotiating acceptable terms for Agrium.
• Leading vendor performance evaluations and documenting process improvements.
• Updating contract spreadsheets, SAP activity codes, and rate changes.
• Ensuring compliance to Materials Management best practices and managing risk exposure to Agrium.

Qualifications of the Position Include:

• Actively working towards a PMAC professional designation with 10+ years related experience in project contract development and contract management in accordance with the Procurement Development Matrix.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, planning, problem solving, and organizational skills.
• Superior analytical and problem solving skills, along with the ability to prioritize work and to work effectively with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
