Engineer, Projects

Reporting to the Project Supervisor the Project Engineer is accountable for execution of capital, non-routine maintenance, and MOC projects and to ensure the work is carried out in a safe manner, on time, within budget and that the work is technically sound at Redwater Fertilizer Operations.

Specific Responsibilities Will Include:

• Managing project development, and project execution thru to startup. 
• Applying knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to project activities to meet or exceed stakeholder needs and expectations.
• Ensuring successful completion of projects according to defined and agreed-upon objectives.
• Makes independent decisions on work methods and procedures within an overall program or project.
• Preparing budgets, schedules and resource allocation plans for multi-discipline projects involving considerable capital and manpower resources.
• Managing and controlling projects to ensure that objectives are met in an economical and timely manner and that attention is given to the development and maintenance of standards, procedures and quality control.
• This position is expected to provide a significant amount of interface between operations, maintenance, the technical group and other groups outside the department. As such the Project Engineer must have good analytical skills and an understanding and knowledge of the overall operation of the production units.

Qualifications of the Position Include:

• A Mechanical Engineering Degree and must be either formally registered as or be eligible to be licensed as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Alberta by APEGGA.
• Engineering, maintenance, project, and/or operations experience at an operating chemical facility or a heavy industrial site is considered an asset.
• Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with the technical and business management of engineering, procurement, and construction activities in the chemical/fertilizer industry.
• A proven appreciation for, and a demonstrated capability in the application of advanced methods of data collection, data analysis, and engineering/construction progress reporting is required.
