As an integral member of the Environment, Health and Safety Department, the Technician II, Safety will provide guidance, support, and training on site Safety and Emergency Response equipment for both Redwater Fertilizer Operations and Fort Saskatchewan Nitrogen Operations.

Specific Responsibilities Will Include:

• Ensuring that site safety equipment standards meet or exceed the Regulated Government Standards.
• Providing technical expertise and support in the maintenance, use and upgrading of specialized Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE), and development of associated site standards, practices and procedures.
• Advising the Operating Departments on the correct PPE to be worn or used during on-the-job activities.
• Evaluating and approving all new safety equipment to be purchased for RFO or FNO.
• Facilitating department specific safety training as identified or requested.
• Performing routine field inspections of Safety and Emergency Response equipment.  
• Stewarding to the area budget. 

Qualifications of the Position Include:

• High School Diploma.
• 3-5 years experience in an industrial setting, specifically with a variety of safety equipment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Self motivated and independent worker.
• Excellent computer skills (i.e. Word, Excel, SAP, Toolhound).
• Having or working towards an Occupational Health and Safety Certificate or equivalent would be beneficial.
• Experience in the delivery of training as well as equipment service and repair would also be beneficial.
