Agrium’s ESN-150 project is the recipient of APEGGA’s (The Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta) 2007 Summit® Award for Project Achievement. This award is presented to a project demonstrating engineering, geological or geophysical skills and representing a substantial contribution to technical progress and the betterment of society.

The Awards banquet and ceremonies were attended by over 1,100 industry professionals at the Telus Convention Centre in Calgary on April 27th.  As one of the Award winners, Agrium was included in a one-page APEGGA ad on May 2nd featuring the award winners in the Calgary Herald (back of section A) and the Edmonton Journal (back of the Business Section).

About ESN-150
The ESN-150 project Agrium and Jacobs Engineering Group prepared a complete process design with full approval for this 50 million dollar project being given in March 2005. Despite the challenges posed by Alberta’s high level of construction activity, this fast-track project was completed in only 10 months with few problems and with a very modest cost overrun of 10 per cent.  After more than 15 years of process development and field trials, Agrium’s commercial scale production unit for Controlled Release Fertilizers (ESN) was operational at Carseland.  It reached full production rates in just over three weeks.
