SYLACAUGA, AL -- Within the last two years, Agrium Inc. of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, has joined with Pursell Technologies, Inc., and Nu-Gro Technologies to form a brand new strategic business unit.  After a few months of planning and preparation, this new specialty division has officially announced its name as Agrium Advanced Technologies.  Also accompanying the new name is the release of a new logo that will appear on materials, documents and products in coming months.

According to David Pursell, Agrium Advanced Technologies’ vice president, marketing and new product development, “Our new name and logo are designed to incorporate the brand awareness of Agrium while creating a distinct and exciting new look for this integrated, unified business segment that is greater than the sum of its parts.  We wanted to focus on our company’s continuing efforts to advance innovations and to provide smarter ways for our associates and customers to do business. ”

The combination of three world-class fertilizer manufacturers has enabled the newly named strategic business unit to offer a broader selection of slow- and controlled-release solutions, along with more comprehensive customer service and cost efficiencies.  As well, the dynamic synergy gained by forming Agrium Advanced Technologies ensures that superintendents can find all the products they’ve come to trust, such as Polyon®, Nitroform®, SCU®, Duration CR® and ESN®, as well as many new products – all in one place.

While Agrium Advanced Technologies may be a new name in the golf industry, it is not at all new to the business.  For many years, Agrium has been a leading international supplier of specialty products for the agricultural market, where the company pioneered the development of cost-effective, controlled-release fertilizers in broad-acre crop applications.  In its newly expanded role, Agrium Advanced Technologies will continue to emphasize quality and customer service and place even greater emphasis on the further advancement of polymer-coating capabilities and innovations.
