CALGARY, Alberta -- Agrium Inc. (TSX and NYSE: AGU) announced today the appointment of Andrew K. Mittag to the position of Senior Vice President, Corporate Development and Strategy, effective mid-November 2005.

Andrew comes to Agrium with over 24 years experience in business development, investment banking and corporate business. His most recent position was at Rockland Capital Partners in Dallas, Texas, where he was President and Chief Financial Officer as well as co-founder of the firm. Rockland Partners is a private advisory firm providing corporate strategy and corporate opportunity development consulting as well as traditional investment banking services to established middle market companies.

Prior to this role, Andrew worked for TXU Corporation and Koch Industries Inc. where he was Senior Vice President, Corporate Strategy and Development. He also spent 15 years in commercial and investment banking, and corporate business development working for Dresdner Kleinwort Benson, Lehman Brothers and Commerzbank Ag. He is a seasoned business development executive who brings to Agrium the unique combination of investment banking and corporate business development combined with a solid background in deal structure, negotiations and closure.

Andrew holds a Bachelor of Arts from Hamilton College along with a Masters of Business Administration, Finance and Accounting from Columbia University.
