Kenai Nitrogen Operations is located 10 miles (16 km) north of the City of Kenai, Alaska on Cook Inlet. Accessible by air, water and land, the complex consists of one operational ammonia plant and one operational urea plant. Annual urea capacity is 640,000 tonnes and net ammonia capacity is approximately 280,000 tonnes.
The principal raw materials for the ammonia and urea fertilizers manufactured by the Kenai plant are natural gas, water and air. Natural gas is piped to the facility from nearby gas fields.
Agrium is currently studying the feasibility of a world-class, low-emission coal gasification facility as a long-term feedstock alternative.
