On March 30th, 2007, we submitted an application to Alberta Environment under the Alberta Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act (AEPEA) to renew our Agrium Fort Saskatchewan Operating Approval. Our current Approval expires February 28, 2008. The renewed Approval will allow us to continue to operate our Fort Saskatchewan Nitrogen Operations (FNO) facility.
Operating Approvals are issued by Alberta Environment. They outline the regulatory conditions that must be met in order comply with environmental laws and regulations. Alberta Environment issues Operating Approvals for specified periods of up to 10 years. Our Application is not for new construction or changes to any of our processes, it is simply to continue our existing operation. The Application includes a description of our process and provides a summary of our environmental performance under our existing Approval.
Feb. 15, 2007 - We hosted an Open House at our Fort Saskatchewan facility to provide an opportunity for our neighbors to see our operations, meet our employees, and learn about our upcoming Application. Click here to see our Open House information.
July 24, 2007 - Agrium advertised public notice of the Application in the Fort Saskatchewan Record, the Edmonton Sun, and the Edmonton Journal providing an opportunity for neighbors to submit any statements of concern regarding the Application and our operations.
