One great tour deserves another.
Members of the Young Professionals Network (YPN) at Agrium’s Calgary, Alberta head office learned a lot during their tour of Agrium’s Carseland Nitrogen Operations – just east of Calgary – in July 2014. So, naturally, they hit the road again for a comeback tour to the facility earlier this summer, and added another stop on the itinerary: a visit to Agrium’s nearby Retail Farm Center.
Starting the day at CNO with a brief presentation of the process flow of the plant and safety guidelines, the group donned steel-toed boots, coveralls, goggles, gloves, and hardhats before taking an extensive and informative tour of the manufacturing operations. The visit also provided opportunities to connect and network with various Carseland employees, including their counterparts from Carseland’s YPN during lunch.
Agrium Retail’s Crop Production Services operates a Retail Farm Center just a stone’s throw from the nitrogen plant, and organizers felt that a visit to the facility would provide tour participants with valuable insights into the retail sales stage of the lifecycle of Agrium’s products. Attendees also got a first-hand look at how the variety of seeds, fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides are stored and sold, and learned about an agronomist's role in tailoring product recommendations to a farmer's specific needs.
Once again, the tour provided a great opportunity for young professionals in Calgary to network, and to gain a more holistic view of the company and its role in feeding the world.
