Diversity & Inclusion

Agrium believes its success is tied to maintaining and enhancing a diverse and inclusive workplace culture.  Agrium's Inclusive Workplace policy has been in place since 2004.  This means people at Agrium are valued because of, not in spite of, their differences.  Diversity is a collective mixture of visible differences and similarities such as age, gender or race and not-so-visible dimensions such as culture, work style, lifestyle or education.

In the past few years, Agrium has grown to more than 15,000 employees throughout the world. To continue to thrive locally and globally, we must capitalize on our diversity by setting corporate direction and policy to ensure that we have an experienced and inclusive workforce comprising international talent.

We define an inclusive workplace as "a respectful climate where we value diversity, leverage all talents, and strive to recognize and develop each person to their full, unique potential".  A diverse workforce improves Agrium's business effectiveness and supports our overall sustainability as an organization - as well as supporting the personal success of our employees.

Employee Resource Groups, such as our Women's Inclusion Network (WIN) and Young Professionals Network (YPN), create awareness and opportunity for constructive action and dialogue. Agrium is committed to the employee perspective on diversity and inclusion and how it contributes to our business and individual career success.

WIN has four chapters and is open to all individuals, regardless of gender or job level. In 2011, the group launched a structured mentorship program for women to develop their career potential.

By 2015 yearend, over 210 pairs of mentors and protégés had participated in the program.

In North America, approximately 25 percent of Agrium's workforce is between the ages of 18 and 34. The Young Professionals Network (YPN) brings further value to emerging professionals in Agrium through speaker events and volunteer opportunities. In 2015, the YPN expanded beyond the Calgary office to include chapters in five other major locations.
