Air Emissions

Some of our processes generate air emissions such as nitrogen oxides (NOx), sulphur oxides, volatile organic compounds and particulates. We're committed to reducing these emissions and protecting air quality as much as possible.

We have invested in and maintain pollution control equipment to reduce these emissions and ensure regulatory compliance. Current and planned emission reduction and energy conservation initiatives will further reduce air contaminant loading from our production facilities. We work to implement improvements, such as low NOx product dryers, over time and especially at plant maintenance turnarounds.

We report our air emissions to Canadian National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) and the United States Toxic Release Inventory (TRI). Emissions are continuously and/or regularly tested to ensure they remain under regulatory limits. If performance wavers, equipment is repaired or replaced to ensure predictable results. Most pollution control equipment is also included in assessments conducted during our preventative maintenance programs.
