Power Engineering Students
Agrium works with local technical institutes to provide industrial experience and steam time to Power Engineering students between their first and second years. Our recruitment begins in January and successful students start their four-month work experience placements in May. Depending on our needs, top performers completing their summer work terms may be offered full-time positions by Agrium Wholesale. Our students may also be eligible for a $2,000 education reimbursement upon completion of their two-year educational programs.
Engineer-in-Training Program (Canada)
Agrium Wholesale encourages the technical development of our engineering employees. Our four-year rotational program provides on-the-job training with assignments and opportunities that expose participants to various plant sites and production processes. These exciting rotation positions are a great way to develop a new engineer’s technical leadership skills and establish technical support networks.
U.S. Engineering New Grads
On-the-job training at an Agrium Wholesale manufacturing site offers learning and development opportunities to recent engineering grads looking to start their careers. New grads quickly develop their technical skills by working directly with plant leaders and taking on major assignments to ensure production process are operating successfully.
Marketer-In-Training (U.S. / Canada)
Agriculture, Business or Commerce grads who are interested in long-term careers in Agricultural Sales, Marketing or Logistics are ideal candidates for our Marketer-in-Training (MIT) program. This two- to four-year rotational program is centered on mentorship and development through on-the-job training.
New Grad Rotation Program – Accounting & Finance (U.S. / Canada)
The goal of the New Grad Rotation Program is to grow talented individuals into Agrium's future leaders. It's a two-year, full-time program with approximately three rotations in Accounting and Finance (six to eight months each). The program is offered in the Calgary, Alberta and Loveland, Colorado offices.
During this program, new grads participate in various projects designed to enhance leadership development, communication skills and internal networking. You will develop broad skills in accounting and finance, grow your and leadership ability and gain a solid understanding of Agrium’s business.
Co-op & Intern Program
Agrium’s Co-op & Intern Program gives you hands-on work experience and lets you apply classroom fundamentals to everyday business practices. This combination of school and work will give you a competitive edge when you enter the workforce. We offer competitive co-op salaries based on the standards set in similar and competing industries.
Agrium hires students to work in challenging environments at its various locations. Each year we bring on enthusiastic summer students to work with experienced staff. The positions available are often related to what you are taking in school, for example power engineers are often brought on as summer students. Work terms vary but end before you are required to head back to school.
The number of students we hire each year is based on our business need. As such, they are posted in our second quarter.

We've established an Aboriginal Bursary Program in the agricultural studies departments at the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Manitoba, and in power engineering at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. Agrium’s bursaries are administered by each institution based on personal achievement criteria and are open to First Nations, Metis and Inuit students. How Do I Apply?
Agrium recruits students for co-op positions throughout the year. Recruiting for Power Engineering student starts in January/February. EIT and new graduate recruiting is done in the fall. The number of positions varies each semester according to our business needs.
