Urea Process Engineer

Reporting to the Process Engineering Supervisor, as a member of the Technical Services Group you will provide process engineering support and technical leadership for the operation and maintenance of the Carseland production facility; with a focus on optimizing the environmental, efficiency and production performance of the Urea plant.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring long term unit performance with a focus on ensuring sustained or improved environmental performance, capacity utilization, efficiency, and cost effective operation.
  • Leading risk assessments and completing risk assessment follow-up items.
  • Designing and supporting the implementation of process related projects.
  • Maintaining process information, including P&ID’s and unit performance history.
  • Providing process engineering support during plant start-ups, planned shutdowns and turnarounds.
  • Supporting Operations in identifying and solving process related problems.
  • Providing leadership and mentorship to the members of the Process Group.

Qualifications of the position include:

  • University degree in Engineering with 8 plus years of process engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated analytical, organizational and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to perform as a sole contributor and to lead teams of people.
  • Excellent computer skills with MS Office.
  • Experience with simulation, safety valve and other process engineering related software, and DCS knowledge are an asset.
  • Current registration or eligibility for registration with APEGGA.

Preference will be given to those with petrochemical or petroleum refining experience. Familiarity with fertilizer production is an asset.
