Kapuskasing Phosphate Operations
Reporting to the Mine Superintendent, the Mine Planner is responsible for the development of daily, weekly, monthly and yearly mine plans, including the design and optimization of haul roads, shovel benches, waste dumps, and tailing structures.
Specific Responsibilities will include:
- Leading pit operations planning (design & scheduling) and budgeting
- Review contractor mining daily & weekly plans;
- Produce monthly & yearly mining plans;
- Participate in the budgeting process;
- Participate in the monthly/yearly volume reconciliation of production.
- Promote improvements in all areas to meet or exceed set targets
- Involved in margin improvements (Agrium/Contractor);
- Participate and lead meetings to conduct such improvement opportunities;
- Act as a strong safety leader in all aspects of the open pit operation
- Perform supervisory duties on a relief basis and leadership in team activities
- Daily interaction with mining contractors
- Looking at continuous improvement opportunities;
- Follow-up day to day mining activities;
- Monitor billing/payment of the contractor;
- Participate in annual price negotiation with contractor.
Qualifications of the Position Include:
- A Bachelor degree in Mining/Geology or technician/technologist degree with Mine Planning experience;
- Have 2-6 years of open pit, truck/shovel mining experience;
- Able to handle a large and varied workload;
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, planning, problem solving, and organization skills
- Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision
- Experience working with MS Office, SAP, CAD, and Mine Planning software such as Surpac.
